Tips On How To Have A Healthy Pregnancy

Even if you are not yet pregnant, you might want to consider taking a prenatal vitamin. This will supply the needed nutrients for your baby’s development in the earliest part of pregnancy. These developments include the early stages of the spinal cord and brain. If your body is already supplied with the proper levels of iron, calcium and folic acid, your baby will get the best start from the moment of conception.

Be sure to take a break and focus on yourself. You won’t have much time for yourself after your baby is born; so take the time now to pamper yourself. Do something you enjoy, pamper yourself, and spend time with your friends. This will help you feel better, and make you able to give the best care to your baby.

When your second trimester comes close to its end, start giving your belly a massage. Sit comfortably on a sofa or bed with support from a pillow or two at your back. Use oil as opposed to lotion while massaging your belly lightly. Practice your breathing techniques and listen to soothing music. This helps to soothe your baby and to keep you relaxed as well.

If you’re an expecting mother or even just trying to conceive, become tobacco free. Smoking is dangerous to your health and that of your unborn child. It’s known to instigate respiratory ailments in babies and boost their chances of asthma later in life.

Swimming is something you should think about when you are pregnant. Although having to put on a swimsuit when pregnant is not desirable for your confidence, the rewards of swimming are worth it. The water is wonderful for supporting the additional body weight that you are carrying, while relieving some of the muscle aches you dealing with. Not to mention, it makes a great exercise!

Stretch nightly prior to sleep to give your muscles relief. The added physical demands of pregnancy can cause your legs to cramp up. If you allot time to stretch prior to bedtime, you can ease cramping and ensure you will sleep soundly through the night. You will also sleep better!

Swelling is a common side effect of pregnancy. It can be quite helpful to eat a little less salt.

Food cravings are not uncommon during pregnancy, but be careful about giving in to every craving. Your developing baby has particular nutritional needs, much like you do. Gorging yourself on your cravings may only satisfy those cravings and not the nutritional needs of your unborn child. For this reason, make sure you eat a well-balanced to meet both of your needs.

To help you ease your lower back pain while pregnant try doing pelvic tilts. From a position with hands and knees on the ground, arch your back like a hissing cat and hold. Then, lower your back slowly like a cow with your belly sagging. Slowly repeat several times. These back tilts can help your back! They are also helpful in positioning your baby for birth.
